Management Accountant (Contract 6-12 months) £50-55K plus benefits, 6-12 months, West Bromwich (4 days in the office, 1 from home). Sector: Manufacturing / Engineering (SME)
An established UK manufacturing SME is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join the finance function on a 6-12 month contract. This is a hands on role supporting the senior leadership team with high quality management information, commercial insight, and financial control during a key period for the business.
This role would suit a commercially focused finance professional who enjoys working closely with operational and production teams in a fast-paced SME environment.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including detailed variance analysis and commentary
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning, including rolling forecasts
Deliver product costing, margin analysis, and manufacturing variance reporting
Monitor inventory valuation, working capital, and cash flow forecasts
Provide financial insight to support pricing decisions, contract reviews, and commercial negotiations
Work closely with operations, production, and engineering teams to align financial and operational performance
Support year-end processes, audit preparation, and statutory reporting
Maintain strong financial controls and data integrity across finance and ERP systems
Assist with CAPEX appraisals and business cases for improvement and investment projects
Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes, systems, and reporting
Oversee or support monthly payroll processing, ensuring compliance with HMRC and statutory requirements

About you
Qualified, Part Qualified or QBE Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent)
Strong background in management accounting, ideally within manufacturing or operational environments
Proven experience delivering management accounts, budgets, and forecasts
Solid understanding of cost control, product costing, and variance analysis
Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical capability
Comfortable working in an SME, hands-on environment with senior operational stakeholders
Experience supporting audits and statutory reporting processes
Ability to hit the ground running and add value quickly in a contract role
