Leading a small team of developers, the Team Lead Developer will drive business transformation, efficiencies and improvements across the business and to clients, working with established technologies as well as embracing emerging tools.

The successful applicant will work closely with the IT Business Relationship Management team, Architects, Solution Designers and other IT teams to build and deliver a balanced portfolio of strategic and tactical digital innovation projects. They will engage with suppliers, business stakeholders and team members to scope, plan and deliver new projects as well as supporting existing solutions through continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Hands on full-stack developer, including front-end development capabilities and a good understanding of UX
  • Management responsibility of a small team of developers and one UX/UI designer
  • Working with the Solution Development management team to plan and schedule work, as well as ensure optimum productivity across the team.
  • Responsible for building, maintaining and supporting both enterprise and client facing applications
  • Run software development using modern DevOps methodologies to increase efficiency and productivity
  • Scan and leverage cross-industry trends in new and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and data science to apply in the context of accountancy and professional services
  • Manage client expectations by listening carefully to their needs

Leadership:

  • Solution Development Leadership - work with the IT Business Solutions Manager to create best-practice software development processes
  • Contribute to thought leadership by keeping up-to-date on new approaches, techniques and tools. Take account of changes and trends in technology, the market-place and in the business, then propose changes to future plans accordingly
  • Ability to multitask and manage own time as well as other's time.
  • Mentor and help improve junior developers

Experience

  • Proven track record of successfully building and delivering digital products (mobile and web apps/services) to market, using agile methodologies.
  • Technically excellent: Expert hands-on development skills for building mobile, web apps and services.
  • Key development skillsets: C#, .NET platform, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Azure PaaS (Azure Functions; Azure Logic Apps; Cosmos DB; Azure App Service; ARM templates), SharePoint and React
  • Experience of resource planning and work management.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure
  • Experienced in agile software development
  • Knowledge of modern DevOps methodologies and continuous integration using Git.
  • Demonstrate a passion and good understanding of key new and emerging technologies and the ability to quickly learn new technology concepts
  • Experience of test driven development desirable
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of User Experience methodology and its importance in digital product development
