European Accountant - French speaking

Listed business - Leeds

The role of the European Accountant will work closely with my client's team in France and report into the European Financial Controller. Based out of the Leeds Head Office, the role will be responsible for revenue reporting and billing across the entities managed by the French Finance Team and will also have specific responsibilities for the accounting of German entities too.

The suitable candidate must be able to speak French in order to communicate effectively with the team in France. This is an essential requirement for the role.

Role responsibilities

  • Revenue
    • Responsible for revenue accounting for all entities within the French Region.
    • Process the monthly billing for customers accurately and as timely as possible.
    • Provision of revenue information for the entities within the French Region both to local Commercial Teams and the Group Finance Team.

  • Entity accounting
    • Responsible for the accounting for 2 German entities and working with local accountants in the Philippines.
    • Maintenance of accurate ledgers including normal procedures such as authorisations and/or posting of month end journals, reviews of ledgers and preparation of monthly balance sheet nominal account reconciliations.
    • Provision of monthly management information, reporting both locally and to Group and any other ad-hoc financial reporting.
    • Verification and authorisation of payments to employees and suppliers.
    • Review and submission of necessary statutory returns such as VAT.

  • General
    • Involvement in the budget and forecast process.
    • Adherence to and improvement of financial and linked operational controls across the group
    • Ensuring the financial information is prepared on a consistent basis with the local Group accounting policies which reports under IFRS.
    • Support with the audit processes both at a Group level and local level as appropriate
    • Some occasional travel to France to meet business requirements

Requirements

  • A fully qualified Accountant - ACA or ACCA ideally
  • Proven competency in spoken and written business French is essential
  • A Team player
  • Ideally you will be newly qualified from a big four or top ten firm and be looking for your first move into industry
  • Alternatively, you could be newly qualified in industry with strong technical skills
  • Highly organised with ability to manage own workload
  • Ambitious and keen to progress
  • Strong IT Skills with advanced Excel
