Cost Accountant, 18 month fixed-term contract, Herefordshire

We're looking for a talented Cost Accountant to join us on an 18-month fixed-term contract, covering maternity leave. You'll be based in Herefordshire, with the flexibility of hybrid working. In this role, you'll take ownership of costing and stock processes across multiple locations, ensuring accuracy, driving efficiencies, and supporting continuous improvement. You'll also have the chance to lead and develop a small team, making this a great step for someone looking to combine technical expertise with leadership.

What you'll be doing
Deliver accurate costing and stock analysis to support strategic decisions.
Review and challenge variances, ensuring data integrity and operational improvements.
Manage and develop the costing and stock team, setting clear objectives and supporting growth.
Oversee monthly cost roll-ups, labour and energy rate updates, and stock management best practices.
Provide insightful commentary on manufacturing variances and assist with audits.
Champion continuous improvement and help drive working capital reduction targets.

What we're looking for
Qualified or Part Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent experience).
Experience in cost accounting or a similar role, ideally with exposure to stock management.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset.
Advanced Excel skills.
