The Role

Marks Sattin are partnering with a large organisation based in York to who who recruiting for a Senior Payroll Specialist on an interimm basis. This role is essential in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll, pensions, and employee benefits. You will be responsible for managing complex payroll calculations, maintaining accurate records, and providing high-quality support to employees on pay-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Process payroll, pensions, and employee benefits accurately and on time.
• Perform complex calculations for standing data and variable pay, including SMP, overtime, occupational and statutory sick pay, and adjustments for starters and leavers.
• Compile and analyse payroll reports, reconciliation packs, and management information.
• Manage third-party payments and produce payroll journals.
• Respond to employee queries regarding pay and benefits in a timely and professional manner.

About You

• Proven experience in running an effective in-house payroll service using payroll systems.
• Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Highly organised with strong administrative capabilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Confident in applying best practice payroll and benefits processes.
