Interim Syndicate Accountant - 6-month contract

We are looking for a Syndicate Accountant to join the finance team of a leading Lloyd's of London Syndicate.

Candidates must be immediately available or able to start employment within 2 weeks' notice.

The firm is operating on a hybrid working model and this position will be based in London.

Main Responsibilities:

Prepare and review syndicate financial reports, including:

  • Quarterly and annual submissions (e.g., QMA, QMB).
  • Regulatory reports such as Solvency II and US/Canadian situs filings.
  • Annual and underwriting year financial statements.
  • Regular analysis and commentary to address routine or ad hoc queries on reporting data.

Manage and coordinate reporting processes:

  • Ensure reports meet internal deadlines and allow sufficient time for management review.
  • Develop analytical tools and memos to support reports.
  • Collaborate closely with finance teams and other stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results.
  • Engage with underwriters and actuaries to interpret financial results.
  • Provide data and insights for internal reporting and ad hoc requests.
  • Assist internal and external auditors by providing necessary information and ensuring audits are completed on time.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and document procedures for reporting tasks.

Drive process improvements:

  • Work on projects to enhance reporting accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness.
  • Participate actively in finance transformation and related initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant with syndicate accounting experience.
  • Working knowledge of UK GAAP FRS 103.
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong report-writing and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Lloyd's-specific software (desirable).
