Supporting families and new parents

Supporting our people to raise the next generation and give them the best opportunities is important to us. We believe that for new parents, it’s family first, work second. So, we have a range of benefits designed to ease the pressure on new families, and ensure our people return to work happy and motivated and willing to give their best.

    • Maternity

We pay enhanced maternity pay up to 26 weeks, depending on your length of service. And every maternity returner will receive two generous bonuses to help them when they need it most. Moreover, targets will be disregarded for the first three months you are back in your role.

      Adoption

We also want those who choose to adopt, for whatever reason, to benefit from our adoption pay. So, we have extended the terms of our Maternity Policy to cover people who adopt. Our Enhanced Adoption Pay will be available for the parent who is the main carer of the child, and partners of main carers will also benefit from our Enhanced Paternity Pay.

      Paternity

It's also important to us that dads feel they can take time with their new-born without worrying about losing money. That’s why we’re also offering Enhanced Paternity Pay.

    • If you have pre-school children, we’ll build your working hours around your family life to enable you to be there for those special moments.
    • We are providing webinars for all new parents and parents to be, creating a cohort of people with similar experiences and providing invaluable support and guidance.

Learning and Development opportunities

Our aim is to provide continuous professional development and learning opportunities to all our people and to also promote a culture of self-development. From the start of your career with us we provide structured training programmes on all aspects of becoming a successful consultant as well as mentoring from senior members of staff. The training will cover everything you need to know in recruitment from sourcing and qualifying candidates to opening up those all-important client relationships and closing deals.

Structured Programmes

From our 15-month leadership development programmes hosted by external experts, to our sales and recruitment masterclasses written and delivered by our directors and executive board, you can be sure that your development is always on the agenda at Marks Sattin.

Onboarding

All new joiners have a structured onboarding plan with clear progression pathways to turbo-charge your career potential.

Learn a Language

We’ll pay for you to join a cohort of global colleagues learning a language of your choice.

Self-development

With two online platforms and regular recruitment skills/soft skills courses, self-development is easy. For those in professional roles, we’ll support you with external courses or apprenticeships as required.

Our commitment to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion and Corporate Social Responsibility

We genuinely believe that building an inclusive environment and being a responsible employer will create a happy and welcoming place for our employees to thrive.

We have been awarded trailblazer status by Race Equality Matters for the work we are doing to ensure racial equality in our company.  We’re also working with the charity, 10,000 black interns, to provide job opportunities for young black talent in our organisation.

All of our employees are trained around D&I, with our leaders & managers also trained in Inclusive Leadership.  We embed diversity & inclusion across everything that we do.

We have worked with the Youth Charter and the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership to give children from disadvantaged backgrounds access to the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

And we have an ongoing relationship with Solving Kids Cancer and Charterpath, where we are supporting accountants to donate their time to not-for-profit organisations.

To support our commitment to D&I and CSR, we have introduced the following benefits:

Chosen Family

"Chosen family" are people you may feel closer to than blood relatives, who you see as being your true family even though you aren't related. We're recognising “chosen family” members in our Compassionate Leave Policy to ensure our LGBTQ+ community, and others, are fully supported at their most difficult times.

Inclusive healthcare

In a post-COVID environment, we want our people to feel secure in the knowledge that they have the right healthcare benefits for them.

Choice is important, which is why we’re providing some flexible benefits as well as standard ones, so that employees can select the cover that’s most relevant to their circumstances.

Promoting wellbeing

As well as healthcare provision, we have some proactive wellbeing initiatives in place to prevent ill-health and help you maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Financial Wellbeing

We provide financial coaching to our employees to help them plan their finances for themselves and their families through the accredited coaching programme. We also hold monthly financial wellbeing webinars, as well as access to a financial wellbeing portal and a shopping discounts portal.

Physical Wellbeing

We provide discounted gym memberships and organise regular sporting challenges.

Emotional Wellbeing

We hold regular 'Let’s Talk' wellbeing workshops tackling difficult subjects, and offer an Employee Assistance Programme including a counselling service. Your comprehensive private medical care offers mental health support including face to face counselling on an ongoing basis for as long as you need it.
