An industry leading organisation based in Sutton Coldfield are seeking to employ a Business
Analysis and Testing Manager. Candidates must have minimum 5 years experience as a BA
and have moved into either a Sr, Lead or Manager role. Will have direct reports of 5 BA's and
2 Testers.
Purpose
As Business Analysis and Testing Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring existing and new applications, new features and improvements are properly designed and are of high-quality, meeting both customer and business needs.
Playing a hands-on role where required, you will oversee the 'design' stage of the software development lifecycle, ensuring the requirement are fully defined prior to development, whether than be large-scale projects or small changes to existing applications.
As Business Analysis and Testing Manager you will also be tasked with the overall responsibility for the test effort's success. The role involves quality and test advocacy, resource planning and management, and resolution of issues that impede the test effort.
Accountabilities
- Management responsibilities for Business Analysts and Testers across workstreams
- Set attainable goals to team members in order for the project to be finished on time and provides guidance to team members to encourage work productivity
- Oversee multiple projects at once, handling and assigning of daily tasks, making sure the timeline is followed by Business Analysts and Testers
- Own the 'design' development stage and the testing strategy, ensuring appropriate procedures and processes are followed when it comes to software development
- Oversee the design and development of automation scripts and manual test cases to ensure signed off requirements can be tested once in development, including estimation of testing time needed
- Represent the Business Analysis and Testing function in meetings and participate in design control activities
- Lead project scoping from a business perspective, assessing customer needs and business requirements, translating these into technical recommendations and solutions to achieve those objectives
- Hands-on approach where necessary to produce user and technical requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria and process flows for projects and change workstreams
- Help to develop/define "definitions of done", acceptance criteria and test cases where necessary
- Manage resource allocation for projects and workstreams that require business analysis and testing capability
- Ensure proper communication concerning changes in established milestones or challenges that may affect the outcome of a project's completion date
- Manage stakeholder relationships, keeping good an open dialogue with those involved
- Receive regular status updates and have good visibility of the team
- Ensure sufficient levels of test execution (system, performance, accessibility integration, regression and security/compliance) alongside User Acceptance Testing to ensure new features and improvements are fit for purpose and can be released with confidence
- Responsible for the management of test data, ensuring data is anonymised and obfuscated to prevent GDPR and security breaches
- Contribute and jointly-own the development frameworks, processes and standards, covering all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
Profile
- Experience in a corporate environment
- 5 years' experience in business analysis or similar role
- Extensive knowledge of the 'design' stage of development and business analysis techniques used in defining business and technical requirements
- Strong knowledge of testing strategies and approaches for different platforms and devices
- Proven people management and leadership skills with the ability to motivate people and enable team members to realise their potential
- Understanding of fundamental design principles behind scalable and responsive applications
- Knowledge of cloud-first architecture is advantageous
- Experience of working within an agile environment and agile development practices
- Excellent understanding of the IT software development lifecycle
