Perm/Contract: CONTRACT - OUTSIDE IR35

Salary: £250 p.d

Reporting to: Programme Manager

Travel: Travel and/or overnight stays maybe required

The Role:

The Design Manager will be the technical authority in the field of Wireless Telecoms Site Design and define and execute the current and future strategies for meeting site design requirements in line with the customer demand. The Design Manager will carry out a design lead function for all incoming BAU design queries and provide support to Structural Engineering with general design queries, generating design standards and supplier auditing.

The Design Manager will ensure that all solutions deployed into the network are fit for purpose and requirements for installation and maintenance area clearly defined and accepted by the business.

The role will also encompass project management and planning in relation to design related projects and stakeholder management aiding those who are connected to the design function. The Design Engineering Manager role will also act as an expert reference point for all site design queries to those in the field ensuring that clear communication of design and standards information is issues to relevant parties.

Candidates will have broad previous experience gained within site design environment, working with suppliers and shareholder management. You will have broad knowledge of Telecoms infrastructure and suppliers and ideally have a relevant engineering degree or be a Chartered Engineer.

You will have previously carried out a Design Lead position and have excellent communication skills and the ability to manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Must have Wireless Telecoms Site Design management & hands on Wireless Telecoms Site Design experience
  • Must have the following experience: RF, site adaptation & field experience.
  • The successful applicant will be having experience in creating, adjusting & optimizing design guidance documentation.
  • Excellent customer facing experience.
  • Experience of working within the Telecommunications sector
  • Extensive professional telecoms design and telecoms infrastructure project experience
  • Good understanding of Structural and/or Electrical design on Wireless Sites, including H&S compliance
  • Experience of working under CDM 2015 regulation
  • Implement best practices and industry standards in designs
  • Review and approve designs for issue
  • Attend progress meetings with client/suppliers
  • Expected to lead technical investigations that result from client/internal queries (technical or H&S) and to support the design team in providing detailed answers to address any concerns raised.
  • Provide \ assist with project specific solutions & associated creation of documentation \ guidance for approval via Design Council & Tech Com. Liaise with client to resolve documentation conflicts and ensure correct standards and promote "Right First Time" approach. Support the Design Team (locally or remotely) with complex site solutions and resolution \ Point of escalation
  • A qualification in engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in applying BIM in the design, realisation, and hand-over phase
  • The Wireless Design Manager will be expected to have a strong working knowledge of Wireless Site Design, working with the direct support of the lead Acquisition Managers and Design Engineers to ensure that sites that have been designed by 3rd parties are compliant prior to the acquisition process.
