Marks Sattin are partnering with a well-respected Group in Leeds to help appoint a new Group Financial Controller/FD Designate.

The role will provide financial leadership, control, direction and guidance with a focus on developing and implementing business strategies to generate sustainable and profitable growth for all brands within the Group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Form a close, collaborative, working relationship with the Directors.
  • Provide leadership to the Director's Financial strategy, to optimise the Group's financial performance and strategic position.
  • Take overall control of the company's accounting function integrating with, leading and developing the incumbent accounting team.
  • Ensure that management accounts are scheduled, timetabled and delivered promptly throughout the business. This information should provide management the tools to maximise profits and plan for the future growth of the brands, in essence, the reports produced should stimulate management action.
  • Ensure statutory accounts are prepared and published, and tax, VAT, and any other statutory returns are concluded within the required regulatory timescales.
  • Proactive management and ultimate responsibility for the Group cash flow (payment, invoices, credit control) with clear visibility of any potential issues.
  • To compile, together with management the budgets and forecasts covering the various Group brands.
  • Contribute fully to the development of company strategy across all areas of the business, challenging assumptions and decision-making as appropriate and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets and business drivers.
  • Ensure that company financial systems/ internal controls are robust, compliant and will support future growth.
  • Establish a high level of credibility and manage strong working relationships with external parties (including but not limited to lenders, advisors, external directors & JV partners), building the best relationships possible at all times.

The ideal candidate will be ACA/ACCACIMA Qualified, with a demonstrable track record within Senior Finance roles. Sector experience is not needed for this role, however experience of handling Banking relationships and M&A/Corporate Finance activity would be useful.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong leadership ability and an excellent track record of success. Ideally the candidate will have excellent communication skills along with true strength of character which will allow them to challenge & drive change internally.
