A market leading fund of hedge funds is looking for a Research analyst to focus on the volatility strategies team. The Fund has seen a huge amount of growth and success in the last few months which has triggered this expansion.
The main focus of the role will be to help the coverage of the volatility strategies focused on hedge funds. This will also give the successful candidate exposure to other strategies such as global macro, equities and credit. Ideally they will be looking for an individual who has very strong knowledge in options across all asset classes.
Key responsibilities will also include:
* Manager selection and investment recommendations
* Detailed qualitative due diligence on hedge fund managers
* Evaluate investment and non-investment risks
* Develop and articulate investment theses
* Write reports summarising key investment insights and conclusions from meetings with hedge fund managers
* Responsible for the on-going monitoring of invested managers and client reporting
* Update and maintain in house database of hedge fund managers
* Be part of the research team and also work closely with portfolio management team
* Work with operation due diligence, risk and quant team throughout the investment and on-going monitoring process
The candidate will need to have the following in order to apply:
* Ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of hands on trading or structuring experience in fixed income or currencies options and an interest in moving across to an asset management business
* Deep understanding of all aspects of risks associated with options and option trading strategies
* Minimum 2:1 degree in a numerate discipline, preferably holding one or more further professional qualifications - CFA, CAIA, etc. - or equivalent
* Accuracy and attention to detail
* Highly numerate and excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent organisational and presentation skills
This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who is in fixed income or currency options structuring or wants to move away from a trading and into a research role within market leading hedge fund.
