A mid tier banking firm is seeking a part qualified or recently qualified accountant to join the Treasury Finance team as a Product Controller.

Reporting in to the Treasury Finance Manager, you would be responsible for product accounting, control environment and certain management information with the Treasury Department. This team sits independent from Treasury and within the Banking Division. The Product Controller will work closely with the Dealers to understand the P&L drivers across Treasury. This role includes running and interpreting Treasury's Interest Rate Mismatch positions, Daily Liquidity report, Swap Master, Daily P&L report as well as associated month end tasks.

2. Job Profile

As a key member of the Treasury Finance function, the analyst will have a sound technical knowledge and a good understanding of a Treasury function and of the key drivers of value within the business.

The jobholder will be responsible for:

* Run the Interest Rate Mismatch and other daily reports
* Running the daily Liquidity Report and analysing / explaining any variances.
* Running the daily P&L Report and ensuring that movements are adequately explained.
* Maintenance of the Treasury Finance derivatives, Gilts etc records.
* Assisting the team to perform the monthly close process, ensuring that relevant controls operate effectively and that all variances are adequately explained.
* Driving the process for improving reporting in terms of greater understanding/analysis and creating efficiencies; including working within Product Control to maximise efficiencies and share best practice.
* Preparation and input for mid-year and year end reporting packages including disclosure requirements.
* Preparation of various Product control reconciliations and ensuring derivatives are accurate and complete.
* Supporting and working with Treasury Product Control, Treasury Financial Control and other Treasury departments on cross functional issues.
* Assisting in hedge accounting matters under IAS 39.
* Key contact with the dealers providing input and assistance in managing Treasuries interest rate risk positions.
* Work closely with the auditors in regards to Product Control requirements and deliverables.

3.Person Specification

Skills
* Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
* High level of computer application skills, particularly Excel.
* Keen eye for detail.
* Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with senior management.
* Practical experience in pricing swaps using systems such as Bloomberg and Quantum would be preferable.

Knowledge
* Knowledge in pricing and accounting of financial instruments - the mechanics of their operation - ideally practical as well as theoretical.
* Advanced knowledge of PC applications, especially Microsoft Excel & Access.
* A sound knowledge of IFRS & UK Accounting Standards and their impact for a Bank.
* An understanding of the risk and information flows that a Treasury department receives and manages.
* An understanding of the Treasury processes and their impacts on other Treasury operations (e.g. settlements, liquidity management, funding, Large Exposure Reporting, and Capital Planning)

* Enthusiasm to co-ordinate and improve performance of a team.

* Deliver effective reporting under pressure and to tight deadlines.

Education and qualifications :

1. Minimum 2 years relevant work experience; either part qualified or recently qualified ACA/CA/ACCA/CIMA
2. Capable with MS Office packages, advanced Excel skills and integrated accounting systems
