Marks Sattin are working with a Leeds based organisation that will shape the future of the UK, this is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact and work on cutting edge technologies that will drive the UK's target for tackling climate change.

The organisation are looking for a BI Developer reporting directly into the Analytics Manager and being a big part of the development of the greefield site. The organisation is offering a strong base salary and one of the best benefits packages around. They are based in Leeds city centre and you will need to be in the office three times a week.

Role

The BI Developer is responsible for contributing to all phases of the business intelligence development lifecycle by building insightful data models and reports and for promoting our self-serve capability across the organisation by delivering ongoing training and support to our growing community of self-serve users.

Responsibilities:

  • Build, support and develop the golden source data repository, including the transfer of data into the data repository, and the semantic layer used for consumption.
  • Actively contribute to all stages of the business intelligence development and reporting lifecycle as required (including design, development, testing & delivery phases) in line with our agreed architecture and design standards.
  • Support the establishment and ongoing operation of a BI Centre of Excellence and a MS Power BI-focussed Community of Practice (for example, by writing documentation, organising training, communicating semantic model changes, and answering user questions).
  • Explore innovative ways to leverage the data available to deliver real business value, including using Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and the tools and capabilities within the MS Fabric ecosystem and beyond.
  • Support the capture, interpretation and sign-off of data and reporting requirements from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date reporting catalogue, capturing key information regarding certified datasets and reports.

Experience:

Essential

  • Experience working within a data and/or reporting delivery team.
  • Extensive MS Power BI report development experience, including MS Power Query, DAX Coding and de-bugging experience.
  • Experience of designing and developing reporting data models (including MS Power BI datasets) to support the delivery of quality MI, including in self-serve scenarios.
  • Experience of capturing, interpreting and developing detailed reporting requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders in a straightforward and understandable way.

Desirable

  • MS Power BI accreditations.
  • Exposure to other components of the wider MS Fabric ecosystem, such as Dataflows, Data Factory (Pipelines) and Lakehouse storage.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the business processes associated with financial services organisations.
  • Experience of working as part of a project delivery team and of using common project delivery methods (Waterfall, Agile).
