Interim Financial Controller - Investment Banking - 6 Month Contract (Possible Temp to Perm)

Location: London (Hybrid)

Pay rate: £650 - £700 per day via umbrella

We're recruiting for an experienced and hands-on Financial Controller to lead the UK finance control team of a high growth Investment Bank. This is a key leadership role in a dynamic and evolving banking environment, offering the opportunity to shape financial operations and contribute to strategic growth.

The successful candidate must be immediately available or on a short notice period of 2 weeks or less. You must also be a qualified accountant (preferably ACA qualified).

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of all aspects of financial control, and work closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation
• Team Leadership: Manage a team of 4 and provide AP/AR Oversight.
• Financial Control: Lead the monthly close process, ensure accurate reporting, and maintain robust financial controls in line with IFRS.
• Reporting & Audit: Own statutory financial statements and coordinate all aspects of the external audit process.
• Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate submissions to HMRC and ONS, and manage business insurance and other regulatory requirements.
• Process Improvement: Lead initiatives to streamline processes, implement automation, and support system upgrades.
• Project Involvement: Work cross-functionally with teams including Treasury, FP&A, Risk, and Group Finance on business initiatives.

Requirements:

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA preferred but would consider, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). You must also be immediately available or under a short notice period of 2 weeks or less.
• Extensive financial control experience within the banking sector.
• Sound knowledge of IFRS and financial instruments (FX, MM, Derivatives, Equities, etc.).
• Track record of team leadership and delivering process or system improvements.
• Experience with Murex and Flexcube (desirable but not essential)
