Marks Sattin have been exclusively engaged by Foot Anstey Group to recruit a Head of Finance Operations to be based in Plymouth on a hybrid working basis. An established law firm with a consistent level of growth over the past decade which has been organic rather than by merger.

The Head of Finance Operations role will see you lead, motivate and drive a 15 strong finance team, all based in Plymouth. Working alongside the Chief Financial Officer you will drive the financial processes and day to day operational performance within the function, ensuring a robust working capital process and an industry leading support team.

This role will be paying between £80,000 and £100,000 per annum with excellent benefits including hybrid working options, 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays, salary sacrifice pension scheme, life assurance 4 x salary, salary sacrifice electric vehicle scheme.

The Head of Finance Operations Role

As a senior finance professional holding previous experience within a law firm, you will be responsible for 3 direct reports and a total team of circa 15 heads. This will consist of a number of high-volume transactional functions including: billings, credit control, legal cashiers and accounts payable. Alongside this, key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure compliance with SRA Accounting rules
  • Drive and develop best in class finance processes and implementing new procedures or improvements where possible
  • Act as a true leader to the finance function, developing and mentoring the team alongside developing skills and experience within
  • Business partner with senior non-finance leaders within the business including partner level
  • Maintain the client accounting team ensuring client monies are handled correctly and efficiently
  • Lead the annual audit process

  • Qualified accountant or qualified by experience
  • Prior experience within a law firm or professional services industry
  • Strong excel skills: Pivot Tables, V-Lookups, Data Manipulation
  • Evidenced leadership capabilities
