Start your job searchOne of the leading Investment Banking Firms in the UK is seeking a Head of Market Risk for their Risk Management Group. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a global institution and progress your career by leading the Risk Management Department across the UK.
The Head of Market Risk will be reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer in the US and will act as the deputy of the CRO within the UK. The Market Risk function will assist with developing, implementing and monitoring systems to ensure that market risks are within external management portfolio guidelines.
The Risk Management Group is responsible for running time series analyses, implementing market data feeds, verifying data and model integrity and analysing the Risk Measures produced. The Market Risk coverage includes all Foreign Exchange, Interest Rates, Equities and/or Commodity exposures for the group.
The role will involve:
· Establishing effective working relationships with other areas such as Front Office, Quants, Product Control, IT, Middle Office, Credit Risk, Audit and colleagues in the US Head Office.
· Carrying out thorough analysis of the trading strategies of the business.
· Pro-active risk management of the bank’s portfolio.
· Monitoring and reporting adherence to the bank’s market risk limits and standing orders, escalating limit excesses appropriately to management.
· Focal point of contact for managing risk across all commodity areas.
· Ensuring risk position data is accurately recorded in the Firm’s Value-at-Risk platform.
· Developing, implementing and testing new risk reports and improving process efficiencies.
The ideal candidate is likely to have the following background and skill set:
· Strong analytical & quantitative skills with appropriate mathematical background.
· In depth knowledge across all asset classes.
· Experienced risk manager in a top tier Market Risk group or trading team.
· Experience of managing people, setting objectives and ensuring the team delivers quality product.
