Volunteers with financial expertise are always in demand by non-profits.

At Charterpath we aim to chart a path between accountants and the non-profit sector to inspire accountants to give their time and expertise to a cause they care about and make it easier for non-profits to recruit high-quality volunteers from a diverse range of backgrounds. Find out more at www.charterpath.org.uk

Non-profits face unprecedented challenges as a result of the pandemic and now the cost of living crisis - 1 in 3 charities made redundancies in 2020, 83% forecast reduced income in 2021 and 1 in 10 warning of potential failure. At the same time 75% are experiencing increased demand for their services. All non-profits need individuals with financial expertise - whether on a part-time or full-time basis or in an oversight role.

Charterpath is a non-profit initiative which aims to 'chart a path' between accountants and the non-profit sector. We are looking to inspire more accountants into volunteering, to connect them with relevant non-profit opportunities (and a wider volunteer network) and engage with third parties such as accounting institutes / corporates to embed volunteering as a status-quo from accounting trainees up until retirement. We hope this will make it easier for non-profits to source and recruit high calibre volunteers with financial skills and improve the diversity of boards (the average trustee is currently white, male, and aged 55-64).

What's more…..Volunteering has benefits for the volunteer as well as the non-profit. It is a great opportunity to learn new skills and, as a trustee, to gain experience of a Board or Executive Committee. You will also build a great network to support future career development. Most importantly, volunteering is a chance to feel good from helping others and there are proven benefits for your well-being.

Want to get involved? Join us at www.charterpath.org.uk/join-us to show your support for our mission and stay up to date on new volunteering roles, events and pro bono mentoring opportunities.
