Commercial Finance manager required for a leading international organisation in central Sheffield Our client is looking to recruit a Commercial Finance Manager. This is a key role within the finance team, reporting to the Financial Controller but also working closely with the Senior Management Team in order to bring about tight commercial and operational control of the business.

It entails the analysis of the financial status of the business by collecting, monitoring and studying operational data; recommending actions to management, with follow-up to ensure implementation. The Commercial Finance Manager will be instrumental in driving through operational improvements with the Operations Director and measuring performance against budgets, forecasts and targets.

Key duties include:

  • The preparation of annual workshop budgets and measuring actual performance against them
  • Providing financial support to the bid team process ensuring that bids are correctly costed and generate adequate margins
  • Working closely with the Operations Director and team to continually improve the operating costs and effectiveness of the workshops (such as: customer satisfaction; response times; labour utilisation, productivity and efficiency; parts costs; waste; and quality measures)
  • Determining the cost and efficiency of the operations by establishing standard times and costs, and collecting operational data
  • Setting up and monitoring workshop performance metrics (KPIs) in order to provide management with weekly operational efficiency and cost-related KPI measures
  • Support the Operations Director in driving the cost-management process throughout the business, by establishing and enforcing workshop policies and procedures, monitoring variances, identifying trends, providing forecasts, improving processes and techniques, and recommending actions to management
  • Periodically reviewing and analysing contracts for profitability and recommending actions to management
  • Training and embedding financial awareness into the operations line management

Qualifications|Experience required

  • Ideally, educated to graduate level
  • ACCA, ACA, CIMA Qualified
  • A Commercial Mindset from either industry or Big four
  • Very analytical
