The client is looking for someone who is qualified and wants to move out of practice and won't look at other types of profiles.

Purpose of role

The statutory and financial reporting requirements for the group are becoming ever more complex, both in the expanding size of the corporate structure and the impact of IFRS accounting standards.

As the business continues to be on the acquisition trail, this role is required to work with the Head of Statutory Reporting to assist with all aspects of the Group's technical accounting, acquisitions and external financial reporting, and be one of the key points of contact during the external audit process.

Primary Duties/Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting consolidation process, statutory accounting and other group reporting
  • Providing key data for corporation tax reporting
  • Full involvement in the external audit process, including participating in discussions with auditors and other advisors and anticipating/resolving queries arising
  • Assisting with financial due diligence on potential acquisitions
  • Reviewing completion accounts and determining final payments required
  • Production of technical papers detailing accounting treatment for any one off or complex accounting issues arising
  • Assisting with integrating the finance functions of acquired companies
  • Assisting with company hive ups and simplification of group structures
  • Assisting with identifying and implementing opportunities for process improvements within the finance team's systems and controls
  • Ongoing development of group accounting manual

Job requirements/Skills

  • ACA qualified with reputable firm
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS
  • Knowledge and experience of UK reporting requirements
  • Experience of consolidations and merger and acquisitions accounting
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills.
  • Good skills in Microsoft Office and other applications - strong Microsoft Excel skills would be especially beneficial
  • Ability and willingness to work with areas of the business outside of finance at all levels to achieve desired outcomes
  • Confidence and ability to support own views with evidence, and a willingness to challenge senior colleagues appropriately if required
  • Ability to navigate differing requirements and priorities within the team to achieve desired results
  • Discretion and confidentiality

  • The role also comes with an 8% bonus opportunity - this is split 50/50 between personal performance and company financial.
