An international management consultancy based in the heart of London is seeking a Financial Controller to lead one of their UK subsidiaries.

This role deals with all reporting to internal and external stakeholders and to the group parent, and so requires someone who is diligent, accurate and has a good attention to detail. The individual needs to be able to actively seek out opportunities for process and systems improvements to drive efficiencies within the department.

The ideal candidate will have an extensive knowledge of all accounting principles and practices, in-depth knowledge and experience of Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cashflow, Working Capital and KPI's. They must have been involved in preparation of statutory accounts, corporation tax returns and running an audit process.

The individual must have demonstrable leadership capabilities, great supervisory experience with a proven track record of delivery to deadlines. They must be adaptable and have demonstrable experience of driving change.

Advanced Excel skills must be able to be explained and demonstrated and previous experience of working with Navision would be advantageous.

The Role

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Supervise, co-ordinate and be accountable for the activities of the team ( 3 direct reports), ensuring all deadlines met - Management Accounts, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
  • Manage department workload to meet department, group and UK operational requirements
  • Ensure accounts are accurate, compliant and produced in a timely manner
  • Ensure DSO days are monitored and that the debtors ledger is clean
  • Personally responsible for the preparation of accounts and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports
  • Be key contact for Marks Sattin alongside Reporting, Planning & Systems Controller for Italy group reporting to include:
    • Monthly Controlling Report (MCR) produced monthly
    • Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) calculation
    • Balance Sheet, Working Capital & Cashflow
    • Forecasts
  • Drive the budget process
  • Involved in the calculation of all commission and bonus payments
  • Document, review and improve reporting policies and procedures
  • Ensure all accounting records are maintained in accordance with statutory requirements
  • Be involved in the preparation of year end statutory accounts and lead all internal and external audits
  • Keep up to date on the interpretation and communication of new legislation impacting management accounts
  • Manage, take accountability and resolve issues
  • Dealing with unresolved escalation of queries from direct report
  • Responsible for training and development of direct reports
