Head of Finance

I am working with a company who are seeking a qualified accountant to join their business in an extremely commercial role as a Head of Finance. They are a wholly owned subsidiary of the wider group. Their focus is as an online Forex and CFD Broker providing cutting edge technology to allow traders to trade the worlds markets.

Ultimately this is effectively performing as a start-up so is fast paced and dynamic growth company going through continuous development. The successful candidate will have broad responsibilities within the business so will be someone who is prepared to roll their sleeves up and become the SME in the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a high quality financial control environment
  • Oversee and/or prepare daily reconciliations to external statements
  • Oversee and/or process daily client deposits/withdrawals
  • Identify and implement process and controls improvements
  • Provide insightful, detailed management information
  • Monitor capital requirements and ensure the company remains compliant
  • Responsible for weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting on company results and KPIs
  • Preparation of year-end financial statutory accounts
  • Maintaining the chart of accounts, cost centres and fixed asset register
  • Prepare reports and presentations as required on issues relating to performance and regulation
  • Collaborate with Head Office to complete ad hoc tasks and projects
  • Liaise with external auditors
  • Examine, new or modified accounting standards, amendments to regulatory rules and guidelines, accounting policy statements and implement changes where required
  • Ad hoc projects as required

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • ACA qualified with appropriate post qualified experience
  • Strong Financial Accounting knowledge (IFRS / FRS)
  • Must be able to demonstrate
    • analytical and strategic thinking
    • Problem solving and reconciliation
    • Excellent communication to both Finance and Non-Finance stakeholders
    • Excellent presentation skills
  • Advanced Excel and data mining experience/ability is necessary
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local and global accounting and taxation principles
  • Working knowledge of payroll function and process including statutory requirements
  • Working knowledge of payroll function and process including statutory requirements
  • Extensive hands on experience preparing general purpose statutory accounts for large corporates
  • Experience within the FX and CFD industry preferred
