Interim Financial Controller

£400 - £450 per day/£80,000 + Car & Benefits - 12 months

This leading Financial Services business in York are currently looking for an experienced interim Financial Controller to join the Finance Department for a 12 month fixed term contract.

Reporting to the CFO, with line management responsibility for the Financial Reporting Team, you will be responsible for managing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems. You will also be responsible for delivery of the Group Annual Report and external audit and the lead finance team on the implementation of a new finance reporting system.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

· Maximise return on financial assets by establishing and managing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.

· Operational responsibility for the Annual Report process and external audit.

· Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.

· Overall responsibility for management of the Group balance sheet including investments, technical reserves, pension liabilities and monthly closure of the GL to facilitate timely and accurate reporting.

· Society and Group capital adequacy monitoring and adherence to the relevant regulatory requirements.

· Treasury Management and managing external borrowing arrangements and relationships.

· Responsible for the monitoring of the Group investments, providing timely and relevant information to the Investment Committee, and when necessary making recommendations on investments to the Investment Committee.

· Ensure compliance with all Legal and Regulatory Financial practises and guidelines by maintaining CPD requirements.

· Responsible for the implementation of a new finance reporting system coordinating the finance and business teams, external consultants and IT colleagues.

Skills and experience needed:

· Fully qualified accountant ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent

· A proven track record in financial control roles, preferably in the financial services industry, although other industries where you have dealt with large volumes may be considered

· A thorough knowledge of accounting principles, standards and procedures.
