This Commercial Finance Manager with a focus on Investment Appraisal is part of a wider team that partners the Property team, making critical decisions on this companies real estate portfolio.

About the role

  • As an Investment Appraisal Manager within the wider Customer & Business Development team, you will business partner the Property team and other functions to support critical investment decisions
  • The property team is responsible for the delivery of opening new properties, alongside managing all existing properties and creating value out of the estate
  • You will be at the forefront of helping the business make the right investment decisions, playing a critical role in identifying, recommending, and concluding on investment proposals for both organic & acquisition growth.
  • This Finance team also prioritises and manages capital expenditure for the business and has exposure to senior board members

The day to date

  • The successful candidate will work with stakeholders across the wider Property teams, including surveyors, market evaluation and construction
  • You will be responsible for challenging senior stakeholders to prioritise and evaluate investment decisions to unlock growth opportunities and increase value creation within our estate. Investments include new growth proposals, M&A opportunities, large scale redevelopment appraisals and estate management
  • You will support new schemes from approval through to opening; reviewing and challenging scheme commercials; providing insight into commercial performance and reviewing post evaluations
  • You will be critical to the future strategy of our estate, for example driving our tenant strategy, optimising lease tenure through rent regears, or reviewing large scale property redevelopments

What you'll need

  • Strong commercial skill set and critical thinking, with the ability to evaluate investments and support clear, robust and measurable business cases
  • Ability to provide accurate, timely information to a high quality with excellent attention to detail
  • Drive to be a 'self-starter' who looks to set direction and take ownership of complex issues to drive the right actions
  • Confidence to challenge and influence operational partners at senior levels of the organisation
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish professional, credible relations with both finance and non-finance colleagues, as well as great communication skills to ensure information is clearly articulated
  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint and analytical tool skills to support data-driven decisions
  • Experience in M&A transactions beneficial but not essential
  • Applicants should be a graduate (or equivalent) with strong academics and a professional accounting qualification with post qualified experience
