A world renowned International Banking Group is looking for a qualified chartered accountant (ACA/CA) with extensive IFRS knowledge to join their Group Accounting Policies team (financial services experience is not essential).
Reporting in to the Head of Group Accounting Policy, you will be responsible for:
- Actively accumulating extensive and detailed knowledge of IFRS and other requirements, and be a source of expert advice to business and finance management around the Group.
- Handle the most complex or broad accounting and disclosure issues, involving interaction with business, finance and risk management units.
- Wider business issues requiring extensive collaboration with business, finance or risk management functions
- Provide guidance and coaching to less experienced members of the team.
- Specify the format and content of the Group's external financial reports in response to changes in external accounting, regulatory and legal requirements, and business developments
- Provide support and guidance to the finance and risk management functions on technical issues
- Provide technical IFRS input to the Group Chart of Accounts and supporting definitions
- Review accounting opinions on complex transactions to ensure compliance with Group accounting policies
- Research the Group's response to future accounting developments, writing public responses to new standards, exposure drafts and discussion papers
- Formulate and recommend Group accounting policies, providing detailed practical guidance on policies
- Provide technical support on the implementation of new accounting standards to Finance and Business teams
Required experience
- Post qualification experience of technical accounting in IFRS is essential, this could have been gained outside of the financial services sector
- Preparation/audit of financial statements under IFRS with either an audit practice (Big Four audit firm preferable) or FTSE 100 organisation ideally at Group level
