My client are an industry leader in their sector having been dominating their market since the 1970's. This well-known manufacturing organisation can offer unrivalled progression through their ranks for an enthusiastic part qualified Accountant with the right work ethic and attitude.

The Role

The role is to assist the Finance Manager in various day to day operations within the finance department - helping to ensure all controls and reporting requirements are met in full and on time. This will be a varied role designed to give practical exposure to the accounting function during progression through a professional accountancy qualification (CIMA/ACCA).

• Assisting in the production of the weekly P&L and associated reports
• Assistance with the month end process - typically a selection of accruals/prepayments
• Weekly wages posting and balance sheet reconciliations - including ensuring all necessary payments/deductions are made/followed up
• Complete ownership of transport and storage accounting - weekly and month end.
• Bank Reconciliations
• National Statistics Returns
• Enhancing existing controls, processes and reporting
• Supporting the finance manager in the smooth running of the department
• Ad-hoc projects

The Candidate

To be successful in your application you will be able to display the following skills and experience:

• 1-2 years experience in a similar role
• Early stage studier of CIMA/ACCA, with the intention of achieving qualified accountant status.
• Excellent time management skills, keen and committed to a career in finance
• Adaptable and willingness to learn
• Able to communicate finance issues to non-finance staff and staff at all levels from factory operative to director
• High level of IT literacy preferred - although not essential as training is available
