International diversified client has an opportunity for a US GAAP accounting policy specialist to join their London HQ in a Chief Accountant role on an initial 15 month basis. The purpose of the role is to take responsibility for the various external financial reporting requirements of their US listed entities. The ideal candidate will be able to start at short notice though the business would be happy to wait for the best applicant if notice periods are up to 3 months.
A qualified chartered accountant (ACA from the Big 4 or equivalent) with significant expertise in US GAAP accounting matters will be best placed to join this high class finance function. It will be imperative that you are proactive, a team player and able to distil complex information and work closely with wider finance team.
Responsibilities will include:
- Ensure that the financial results of both groups are reported accurately and on time.
- Researching, drafting and reviewing complex accounting memorandums as to treatment of certain financial items and various project transactions in accordance with US GAAP.
- Overseeing the quarterly audit, review and preparation of the quarterly press releases, quarterly Form 6-Ks and the annual financial statements reported on Form 20-F of each listed group company.
- Overseeing (SOX) internal control planning, testing and reporting of internal controls.
- Manage the auditor relationship and communications with the Audit Committee.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with both existing and new SEC reporting requirements. This will include responsibility for communications with the SEC such as responses to SEC comment letters and enquiries.
- Oversee preparation of registration statements, prospectuses and other SEC reporting requirements in respect of equity or debt transactions in the capital markets.
Participate in and/or oversee the completion of special projects.
