The Role:
Leadership and Strategy
- Provide strong commercial and financial leadership, working closely with the CEO to formulate Hartford Care's future direction, developing strategies to support this.
- Maintain a close working relationship with the CEO, Directors and Stakeholders of Hartford Care, participating in key decision-making processes
- Develop and implement a financial and operational strategy alongside appropriate budgets and metrics, that supports Hartford Care's long-term strategy and culture
- Lead and drive change and innovation programmes across the Group to improve and innovate our business processes
- Engaging and communicating effectively with colleagues, investors, residents, suppliers, regulators and other internal and external stakeholders, building and sustaining effective relationships whilst consistently enhancing the credibility of the Group
Financial Analysis
- Develop, implement and oversee all financial-related activities across the Group, including developing financial and tax strategies, overseeing the capital request and budgeting processes as well as transaction processing systems
- Undertake due diligence activities as part of acquisition processes as required
- Understand and mitigate key elements of the Group's risk profile, advising the CEO and Board on appropriate actions.
- Lead on monitoring legal issues involving the Company as well as the social care sector, developing and maintaining reliable control systems in response
- Ensure appropriate policies are in place in relation to capital investment, cash availability and shareholder return, balancing risk and reward effectively
- Develop and monitor control and internal reporting systems designed to preserve Hartford Care's assets
- Ensure the Hartford Care Group is compliant with all statutory legal and financial regulatory requirements
- To oversee annual audits with external auditors, ensuring all record keeping meets the necessary requirements and maintaining relationships with external auditors and investigating any findings and recommendations
- To oversee the Group's financial position, banking and financing activities and monitor banking and financial covenants as required
- Maintaining banking relations and representing Hartford Care with investors, brokers, investment bankers as required
- Providing effective leadership and managing the Finance department and Quality Support Team, acting as a role model and mentoring/coaching individuals in order to develop our talent of the future
- Provide regular and accurate financial results and reports to the CEO, Board and Shareholders as required
Technology, Data and Systems
- Ensure that data systems reflect business structures and reporting needs, leading the implementation of technological developments to drive business insight through data and analytics
- Leading projects to ensure our technological functions and systems across the Group supports our current and future business needs and strategy
To perform other functions related to the role of a CFO or as may be reasonable requested by the CEO or Board.
The Candidate
Essential:
- ACA (Equivalent) with a number of years PQE.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to think strategically
- Highly developed analytical skills
- An effective leader, coach and mentor who can adapt their leadership style to suit any given situation
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make accurate and clear decisions based on data and analysis
- Highly developed knowledge of the regulatory and legislative environment we work within
- Robust IT skills and knowledge with a strong understanding of financial systems, processes and controls
