Are you looking for a role in which you can make a difference to people's lives?
Looking to grow in a rapidly expanding environment which rewards you as you go?
Marks Sattin have partnered with a growing Yorkshire Cancer Research to assist with the search for a Compliance, Risk and Governance Manager.
Many of the candidates we work with want their employer to positively impact people's lives and make changes for the better, but also want to be challenged and be rewarded for their hard work and dedication.
This leading Charity based in North Yorkshire, has all the above and more, and has been actively working with cancer patients, their families and the researchers who have made leaps and bounds in cancer research for nearly 100 years.
With significant reserves the charity is able to make a real difference and in the coming year will be delivering its own services for the first time - helping to save lives here in Yorkshire.
Everyone who is part of this organistion are incredibly passionate about the cause and the goals and all come together as one to actively work towards this every day.
With plans to open a new centre for patients in the autumn, and further ambitious plans to add to this in the next couple of years, along with a significant expansion of its retail outlets, they are looking to double their head count in the next 2 years.
The role
Working with the Head of Compliance, Risk and Governance, you will help maintain the risk framework and ensure that the charity remains compliant with growing regulatory requirements.
In addition to this, you will assist in developing the rolling audit plan and ensure the charity has strong internal controls.
- Due to the growth and addition of new business units you will manage and develop new governance practices.
- At this level you will have considerable exposure to senior level stakeholders, and you will be expected to develop and maintain strong relationships with these stakeholders and others across the charity. You will work with these stakeholders on projects such as:
- Ensuring compliance with GDPR and the fundraising regulator, for example.
- Developing and leading the internal audit plan and liaising with the external advisors.
- Managing the risk management framework and risk register with operational and project risk managers.
- Drafting updates for trustees.
- Ensuring the charity complies with internal standards and work to up-skill others.
- Actively work to minimise risks while ensuring operational effectiveness.
Given the nature of the role and high level of visibility across the charity and the high level of projected growth there is no shortage of opportunities to progress and develop. Support will be given to ensure that you can achieve the progression you are looking for in your career.
About you
We are looking for candidates who are wanting to give back to the community and who are highly driven and passionate about the cause. In return you will be given the opportunity to develop quickly and boost your career.
- Experience within Risk, Compliance or Audit in a practice, public sector or charity environment would be advantageous.
- A qualification appropriate to the role (IIA, IRM, ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CPA, CFA or legally qualified)
- Experience of identifying and managing a range of varied risks.
- Previous experience of delivering audit reviews.
- Experience of developing and maintaining high level stakeholder relationships and engagement.
