This York Based Business is looking to appoint their new Finance Manager. This is an instantly recognisable business with exemplary employee care and benefits including flexible working/work from home, fantastic salary and package and clear progression routes and development opportunities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supporting production of reporting cycles and delivering IFRS results to Group in addition to quarterly Solvency II requirements
  • Providing expertise to develop and enhance existing financial reporting processes to improve the efficiency and quality of team outputs and in particular enhance the control environment
  • Supporting production of annual and semi-annually reporting requirements including group and local statutory accounts, regulatory reporting and tax analysis in addition to liaising with external auditors
  • Take responsibility for ad-hoc analysis, projects and reporting requests including working with the other operations team, senior management and external parties
  • Maintaining an effective control environment including evidencing compliance with Financial Reporting Control Framework principles
  • Responsible for liaising with internal & external audit teams and Financial Reporting Control Framework teams on relevant queries.

Skills & Experience required

  • Qualified accountant with relevant post qualification experience
  • Sound knowledge of finance reporting processes and architecture
  • Excellent analytical skills and pro-active drive to get behind changes/movements
  • Experience in a financial reporting role within financial services would be advantageous
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines in a demanding environment
  • Good leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with other areas of the business
  • Strong excel and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of IFRS, Solvency II and experience of preparing statutory accounts would also be beneficial

  • High quality reporting and analysis ensuring the fulfilment of all requirements and being able to identify underlying drivers
  • Recognise risks and issues and communicate with partners and suggest appropriate actions whilst monitoring implementation through to resolution. Build and maintain controls to mitigate risks and engage with senior management to raise awareness to relevant risks and issues
  • Lead investigations within reporting and act as a key resource on projects
  • Influence partners and handle key relationships across UK Life Finance
  • Works at all times within industry and professional standards, following CPD requirements
