Financial Planning Manager

I am working with a large multinational underwriting business looking for a Financial Planning Manager to join their business and will report to the FP&A Manager. The successful candidate will charged with managing and leading the Planning and Forecasting team consisting of 1 Management Accountant and 2 Assistant Management Accountants within FP&A.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and enhance MI reports accurately communicating business performance for management.
  • Take a leading role in managing the annual business planning process for the Group, which involves liaising with senior stakeholders across the business, delivering the consolidated plan to the Board and to Head Office.
  • Prepare MI, analytical review and commentary supporting the plan and forecast results.
  • Own and oversee the maintenance of the forecasting model used to prepare the business plan and subsequent reforecasts. Use the model to analyse and explain the quarterly forecasts.
  • Manage the production of Board packs, reporting quarterly on the performance of both the syndicate and company platforms.
  • Oversee:
    • the involvement of finance in the Lloyd's Syndicate Business Forecast.
    • the production of the syndicate expense and investment income forecasts. Ensure effective communication to the underwriters.
    • production of robust analysis and commentary on the quarterly results of the syndicates.
    • And ensure quarterly syndicate three year forecasts are complete, understood and communicated, and oversee the resultant press release.
    • the development and preparation of the quarterly syndicate cash flow forecasts, ensuring they are complete, understood and communicated.
  • Own and oversee the preparation of the planning and forecasting, and business analysis aspects of the Solvency II deliverables.
  • Co-ordination of financial submissions of the overseas offices, and production of the quarterly overseas reporting pack that provides timely, accurate and relevant information.
  • Liaison with auditors and actuaries and other departments to enhance knowledge transfer e.g. underwriting, claims, outwards reinsurance, underwriting management & performance, IT and facilities.
  • Continually challenge practice and processes
  • Involvement in ad-hoc projects.
  • To be aware of and comply with the relevant rules and regulations in relation to financial crime & conduct.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with 3-5 years PQ experience
  • Experience of financial planning and analysis within the insurance sector.
  • Good understanding of Lloyd's and London Market insurance.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving ability.
  • Excellent Excel and system skills, ideally with forecast modelling experience.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and expectations.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience.
