Senior Commercial Accountant

9 months FTC - Salary flexible depending on experience

Working from home (Yorkshire based business)

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a thriving business in Yorkshire who are looking to bring on board a Commercial Finance professional. The role is a 9 months FTC, but as the business is growing, the role may go longer or even lead in to a permanent role in the future.

As Senior Commercial Accountant, you will support and challenge, create value by improving the quality of decisions and ensure that a chosen business strategy delivers the highest financial benefit at an acceptable level of risk.

Responsibilities

  • Take the commercial lead on bids and tender responses as part of the wider bid team alongside technical consultants (presales), bid management and sales counterparts.
  • Assess commercial viability of investment decisions and sales opportunities; articulating financial risks and opportunities.
  • Review tender documents and contracts to identify commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Support our legal team on commercial negotiations with the customer where appropriate.
  • Provide relevant insight and challenge in determining and delivering the strategic business direction (e.g. pricing, product roadmap & portfolio decisions).
  • Develop and uses innovative commercial solutions to maximise financial return & bid win ratios working on:
    • High complexity/strategic importance -l eading the commercial contract negotiations to ensure a successful outcome and minimisation of risk
    • Medium complexity/strategic importance - involved in key Financial meetings, analysis & risk minimisation
  • Confident in providing assurance to and responding to challenge from senior executives when presenting sales opportunities for approval.
  • Build trust and strong working relationships with sales, presales, bid management and procurement teams to maximise collaborative working across these teams.
  • Drive the development & implementation of priority projects, identifying continual improvement opportunities
  • Consider macro-economic trends and market and competitor approaches to refine the business commercial offerings (e.g. external market analysis/benchmarking/competitor analysis/predictive modelling).
  • Naturally inquisitive with a desire to understand a broad range of commercial issues.
  • Work independently with integrity and professionalism (e.g. ensuring order intake is accurate

Skills & Experience needed

  • CIMA/ACCA/CA/ACA qualified
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective internal and external relationships
  • Experienced in reviewing business cases
  • Business Partnering experience
  • Knowledge of Bids, Tenders and / contracts would be beneficial
