C / C++ Embedded Software Engineer - 6 month contract

A global company is looking to hire an Embedded Software Engineer for an initial 6 month contract to be based out of its Reading office but with the opportunity to work from home.

The successful candidate will be responsible for embedded software architecture design, implementation, test planning, testing, integration with hardware, and achieving the programme timelines.

Responsibilities

• Successfully manage the electrical integration of electronic components, quality sensors, bespoke processing boards, controllers and control software into a production vehicle.
• Implement bespoke software into automotive CAN / LIN interfaces.
• Contribute to and define software development processes and procedures (e.g. software validation and verification procedures and software release notes)
• Perform and participate in technical design and code reviews.
• Integrate embedded systems components into existing vehicle systems.
• Software release management (into production).
• Manage and deliver successful software testing activities to meet quality and reliability expectation
• Develop and maintain electronic FMEAs
• Achieve compliance with the relevant electronics and software standards.

Skills & Experience

• Software architecture design
• C / C++ Embedded programming and debugging
• PC / Windows application development (e.g. Visual Studio C++ / C# or in Python) to create tools in support of embedded systems
• Experienced in working with a range of microcontrollers and their peripherals in embedded systems applications. From 8-bit to 32-bit microcontrollers
• Communications protocol CAN
• Working to coding standards
• Version control systems such as Git / SVN / Mercurial
• Ability to read and understand schematics for electronic circuits.
• Ability to learn new skills and tools quickly.
• MATLAB, Simulink, Autocoding or MISRA C would be desirable
