About the role:

The ALS Finance team business partners the Asda Logistics Services team to provide commercial analysis and support.

The team plays a key role in ensuring we deliver the company plan, through focused cost control and holding teams to account on LCOM and Revenue Generating initiatives.

Working as a Commercial Finance Analyst supporting ALS (Asda Logistics Services) and reporting to the ALS Senior Finance Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the ALS business unit through commercial analysis, financial reporting, business partnering and working with Record to Report and Controllership teams to deliver ALS financial accounts.

The Ins and Outs:

  • Report and Analyse financial and performance data, in the form of management reports, presentations and adhoc analysis supporting the senior finance manager
  • Develop reporting processes to ensure they remain aligned to the businesses strategy
  • Ensure commentary / messages of performance to the wider business are clear, highlighting the key risks / opportunities that need focus
  • Provide commercial insight into specific hot topics / areas of focus
  • Carry out ad hoc work on business cases and post audit
  • Business partner a discreet area of ALS e.g. ASCs (Asda Service Centres)
  • Responsible for the month end close for ALS, working with the Record to Report and Controllership teams to ensure accurate financial reporting. Manage the close and the reporting of ALS financials. Ensure ALS and related teams have access to timely and accurate commercial performance data and are appropriately skilled to use and interpret the information
  • Ownership and development of reporting to inform decisions and drive actions. Includes working closely with the ALS leadership team to ensure reporting remains fit for purpose and working with the MICE team to implement

What you'll need:

  • Qualified accountant - ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification required
  • Accounting Systems knowledge
  • Strong analytical and commercial skills
  • Ambition and willingness to learn new skills / knowledge
  • Cross functional working with the wider finance and business teams
  • Logical thinking / problem solving
  • Team worker
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build strong trusting relationships
