The Role

To provide business partner support for Retail, including financial analysis and cost control. The role will oversee and coordinate the financial activities of Retail, requiring insight, analysis and challenge to be provided to the Retail leadership team in order to support decision making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Budgeting & forecasting: Lead the annual budget and quarterly reforecasting cycles and provide insight and financial understanding for the Retail department
  • Management information: Production of regular management information to allow the business to make effective decisions, prioritise actions and drive performance. Work collaboratively across teams to continuously improve the quality of MI
  • Process and system improvements: Identify and collaborate with systems specialists and the wider business to action process and system improvement projects, demonstrating a continuous-improvement mindset
  • Cost monitoring: Operate in a financial controller capacity for the Retail business, setting up and monitoring internal cost budgets including maintenance of capex, status of capital projects and spend vs budget
  • Other: A range of operational responsibilities including:
  • Provide financial analysis and support on deal appraisals
  • Ad hoc project work, including transactions support
  • Provide support to Elevate
  • Liaise with Investor Relations, Tax and the wider finance team to provide input for external reports and announcements
  • Liaise with external auditors for relevant audit queriesRequirements
  • Qualified Accountant (ICAEW or equivalent) with strong technical skills
  • Able to effectively communicate, collaborate, constructively challenge and influence, at all levels both internally and externally
  • Commercial awareness
  • Strong modelling and analytical skills
  • Able to manage a portfolio of responsibilities, prioritise and meet tight deadlines
  • Comfortable working on a "big picture" or highly detailed basis
  • Confident analysing complex transactions and distilling into salient features
  • Ability to produce well thought through, clearly laid out and expressed schedules and papers
