Start your job searchMarks Sattin UK are partnering with a recently established, well capitalised, innovative and dynamic construction business, who have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Financial Controller to join the team.
Working as part of Senior Management Team, under the leadership of the Finance Director and Managing Director, this individual will be responsible for day to day financial activities of the Construction Entity. The Financial Controller will provide the Exec with detailed insight into the financial performance of the business as well as specific risks and opportunities. Responsibilities include -
- Deliver robust and accurate monthly management accounts and associated analysis to support the Management Team, including clear variance reports and risk analysis supported by commentary
- Drive a culture of maximising site profitability within the business, providing challenge on sales prices and costs
- Ensure that full site life reviews (cost and revenues) are undertaken on a monthly basis to ensure accurate blended margin profit recognition
- Working with the Management Team to develop a robust, risk balanced and achievable 5 year business plan, with regular updated periodic forecasts
- Responsible for preparing rolling weekly and monthly cash forecasting, understand and improve the working capital cycle and enhancing the cash balance
- Ensuring proper financial governance is followed and highlighting any concerns
- Ensuring the business maintains proper liquidity, and raising any risks to the CFO and Exec
- Completion of annual accounts and audit for the Construction Entity, ensuring consolidation with the group accounts
- Support the Group Financial Controller to ensure all statutory returns are prepared accurately and properly filed (Accounts, VAT, other Tax etc.)
- Provide financial information for the land appraisal process and working with the Management Team to ensure the appraisal is robust, capable of delivery and risk balanced
- Identification of complex matters/risks within land appraisal and engage central finance / legal appropriately eg. 3rd party funding, JV structures, VAT treatment, Revenue recognition.
Requirements:-
- Qualified Accountant (ACA / CIMA / ACCA), minimum 2 Years PQE
- Degree preferred but not essential
- Industry Experience in a similar role
- Positive, self-motivated and able to work effectively without close supervision
- Strong work ethic for doing things the right way
