The Aylesbury Site Accountant is a key member of the Site Management Team working alongside the Site Manager as a business partner to provide financial support, guidance and controls in key areas of Transactional Processing, Performance Reporting, Decision support and Financial Guardianship for the site.

Transactional Processing

  • Deliver period end within prescribed timescales to required standard, ensuring all integrity checks completed
  • All appropriate reconciliations should be in place and reconciling differences resolved in a timely manner
  • Balance Sheets should be fully understood, explained and reconciled in line with the reporting cycle
  • Accurate budgeting and forecasting including monthly S&OP plan
  • Ensure stock is well controlled and physically reconciled regularly
  • New product costing and reviewing/setting annual product costs

Performance Reporting

  • Ensure all reporting packs are completed in full, to timetable, to required standard
  • Can produce causal statements and identify key drivers of performance and produce appropriate commentary
  • Support the business drive for results by measuring progress on all initiatives, critically evaluating results
  • Communicate results to site and central teams as appropriate, ensuring that stakeholders have high levels of financial understanding and awareness
  • Performing post implementation reviews for key projects
  • Can use all reporting tools to a high level e.g. Insight, Excel, JDE, BI

Decision Support

  • Prepare Capital Expenditure proposals in conjunction with site teams
  • Analyse profit improvement initiatives to ensure they are accurate and net of costs
  • Work with procurement to ensure that most appropriate suppliers/deals are in place for site
  • Ad hoc analysis to support the Head of Supply Finance & stakeholder group

Qualifications:

Professional Qualification - CIMA, ACCA or equivalent qualification would be desirable, however appropriate qualification by experience is acceptable.

Excellent knowledge of:

  • Previous operational finance experience is an advantage as this role requires a detailed knowledge of manufacturing accounting
  • Internal Controls and their importance as this role is key to site internal control framework

Skills and Experience:

  • Double Entry Bookkeeping - extensive experience of working with general ledger and sub ledgers. Has produced accounts to TB and can do so confidently
  • Internal Controls - should be fully aware of the financial control framework and should ensure commitment to compliance
  • Excel - Intermediate Excel is a minimum requirement, advanced excel is desirable.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting - Should have experience of budgeting and forecasting
  • Capital Expenditure and Fixed Assets - Experience of producing business cases and proposals would be an advantage. Must be experienced with asset management, calculation of depreciation and internal control relating to asset care.
  • Absorption Costing - Must have strong working knowledge of how an absorption costing process works. Understands how manufacturing accounting fits together and has worked with manufacturing process accounts. Should have past experience of re-setting standards and understands the business consequences of such exercises. Understands how BOMs are constructed, routings are devised and product costings are built.
  • ERP Systems - Should understand how ERP systems work and function effectively
  • Stock Control & Management - Must have sound knowledge and experience of stock control principles and practice. Experience of cycle counting and stock valuation is advantageous.
