Senior International Financial Accountant

An opportunity has come up to join a PE backed financial services business as Senior International Financial Accountant. This position is based in South West London and the successful candidate will form key relationships with the International Finance Director, International Finance teams and the Senior International Central Management team.

The Senior International Financial Controller will report to the International Finance Director and will have the Management and oversight of the Assistant Management Accountant and Assistant Accountant (International). They will have the ability to give advice and influence non-finance personnel and make day to day accounting decisions resolving accounting issues and problems. This business is looking for someone with strong commercial awareness and analytical skills with an ability to work under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

• Management and oversight of the Finance team, including coaching team members
• Overseeing the close of the monthly International results and the production of the monthly International board pack, which will include the following:
  • Month end reviews and finalisation of month end procedures, ensuring timetable adhered to (this will involve liaising with the International finance teams)
  • Production of board pack including analysis of variances to budget, reporting of issues
  • KPI reporting
• Assisting with the budget and forecast processes including:
  • Co-ordination of the processes with the International sites
  • Providing budget/forecast reporting/summaries to FD
• Providing business partnering to other departments, attend relevant business meetings and deal with accounting implications.
• Ensuring that indirect taxes are correctly handled within the warranty companies and liaise with tax manager as necessary.
• Ad-hoc work including contract appraisals, diligence etc.
• Overseeing the financial control environment (this will include documenting processes and controls and addressing any weaknesses/gaps)
• Reviewing controls and updating controls register
• Assisting FD with monitoring and improving operational finance processes

Skills, Knoweldge and Experience

• Relevant qualifications (ACA, ACCA, CIMA). 2-3 years post qualified experience or equivalent
• Practice background (Big 4) preferable
• Experience in working with entities across multiple European countries
• Clear written and oral communication skills
• Advanced Excel skills (ability to do Pivot Tables, VLookups, If Statements, Macros, etc)
• Ability to work/communicate with staff at all levels of the business
• Ability to advise / influence non-Finance personnel
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, able to make sound day to day accounting decisions and solve accounting issues and problems
• Close attention to detail and have strong organisational skills
• Strong commercial awareness
• Strong analytical skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
