Job purpose

The Senior Programme Manager supports the designated function by facilitating the design and execution of functional roadmaps to enable the organisation to meet its strategic objectives. The role is responsible for ensuring that the priorities of the organisations functions are fully delivered and embedded through the management and oversight of programmes and projects; whilst also playing an integral role in delivering the enterprise-wide strategic initiatives. The Senior Programme Manager will be the bridge between the functional areas and the COO to ensure enterprise-wide alignment whilst facilitating effective delivery.

Core responsibilities

  • Partners with the designated function to shape and support the development of the functional strategy and plan, ensuring that that priorities are fully delivered and embedded.
  • Representing their allocated function, the individual will proactively direct, manage and forecast resource needs and priorities within the function to enable successful delivery of objectives.
  • Work directly with the Senior Leaders, PMO, IT and third parties to define and prioritise an enterprise-wide programme of change across the Bank.
  • Collaborate with the assigned function to partner with third parties, ensuring an effective relationship is achieved.
  • Lead and direct cross functional and multi-disciplinary activity to ensure that strategic and operational priorities are delivered.
  • Collaborate with the designated function to define functional strategies and associated deliverables to address and problem solve.
  • Prepare and present strategic approach papers and updates relating to the operational development of the function for circulation into Shareholder meetings, the Board, the Executive Committee and Operations Committee.
  • Represent the designate functional area in strategic enterprise steering committees and Programme Boards etc as required to ensure the delivery of their objectives against the wider programme of work.
  • Is accountable for ensuring that project governance is maintained within the allocated function, applying Programme and Project methodologies, so that the highest level of programme support and best practice is provided to the function.


Required behaviours, experience and technical Skills

Experience

  • Expert in leading and managing change and transformation within complex organisations
  • Significant experience in leading cross functional teams to deliver solutions to complex problems to challenging timelines.
  • Proven leadership and relationship management capabilities, including demonstrable experience of differing stakeholder management techniques.
  • Demonstratable evidence of experience in influencing approaches to solving strategic problems at an Executive level.
  • A significant depth of experience in defining functional capabilities and operating models, operational effectiveness, and the roll out of strategic roadmap.
  • Hands on experience in a start-up environment beneficial.
  • Experience of delivering significant portfolios of work within financial services environment.
  • A proven project leader who is able to demonstrate experience in building collaborative teams to achieve strategic business objectives.
  • Proven ability to manage cost/benefit analysis and budgets.
  • Demonstratable experience of operating effectively in a challenging delivery focused environment containing blended teams i.e. permanent, contract, vendor.

Skills

  • Well organised, with a focus on consistently delivering on commitments and the ability to work under tight timeframes and multi-task effectively.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to communicate complex information concisely and effectively to all level of stakeholders.
  • Strong collaboration skillset with the confidence and ability to influence senior management.
  • Ability to lead and motivate small teams to deliver sustained high performance.
  • Detail focused with the ability to keep an eye on the strategic vision of the organisation.
  • A qualification in Programme / Project Management would be beneficial.
  • A high level of competency in MS Office Applications
  • Ability to produce high quality presentation materials and committee papers.
