Company Overview:

Our client, a leading player in the construction industry, is seeking an experienced Interim Service Charge Accountant for a 12-month contract. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and growing team, with the potential for a permanent position upon completion of the contract.
Role Overview:
The Interim Service Charge Accountant will be responsible for managing and maintaining service charge accounts, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and providing support to various departments within the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in service charge accounting, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to handle high-volume workloads.
Key Responsibilities:
Service Charge Accounting:
- Prepare and maintain accurate service charge accounts.
- Reconcile service charge funds and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Monitor and review service charge budgets, ensuring alignment with financial forecasts.
Financial Reporting:
- Produce regular financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Assist in the preparation of audit files and liaise with auditors as required.
Liaison and Communication:
- Liaise with managing agents to review and reconcile billing statements.
- Communicate effectively with residents' associations, addressing any queries or concerns related to service charge accounts.
- Provide financial insight and support to other departments within the organization.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency.
- Develop and maintain key financial metrics to monitor performance and drive improvements.
Additional Duties:
- Assist with the preparation of year-end accounts and the annual budget process.
- Support the Head of Finance and the wider finance team with ad-hoc projects and tasks.
- Participate in meetings and provide financial input to support decision-making processes.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
- Qualified or newly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
Experience:
- Proven experience in service charge accounting, preferably within the property or construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations related to service charges.
- Experience with bookkeeping, nominal ledgers, and financial reconciliations.
Skills:
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Work Schedule/Hours:
- 4 days in the office, 1 day WFH (flexibility available after initial settling period).
- 8 AM - 5 PM, with core hours from 9 AM - 4 PM.
