Start your job searchA Leading Manufacturing company based near Cambridge have an exciting opportunity for a Group Project Estimator. The organisation are building a centralised PMO function to oversee their group wide portfolio of capital expenditure projects (+ 100m budget). As Group Project Estimator you will be responsible for the planning and development of cost schedule estimates across a portfolio of concurrent projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand the projects and their requirements in order to provide a basis for developing estimates and support those projects in the achievement of their targets.
- Determine key variables for costs and other estimates and gather 1st hand information from sites, projects and other sources to provide estimating benchmark data.
- Defining best practice for project estimating & be the key point of contact and subject matter expert for the organisation.
- Conduct research and obtain data on labour costs, materials, production times etc. leading to the creation (and maintenance) of a clear accessible database capturing best practice and historical estimates.
- Use appropriate software for data analysis, forecasting and budgeting.
- Obtain and critically review offers and quotes by sub-contractors or vendors to inform accuracy of cost/ schedule estimates & to challenge figures where necessary.
- Perform and contribute to risk analysis of cost / schedule estimates to ensure that uncertainty and risk are reflected and high confidence figures for both cost and schedule are developed.
- Create and submit estimate reports or bids to appropriate persons
- Provide consultation on planning in conjunction with the project scheduler
- Review, challenge and validate estimates developed by others to establish realism and accuracy within project schedules and identify improvement opportunities.
- Contribute to the further development of Capital Projects Framework and its processes
Ideally you will hold a Masters or BCs degree in Engineering and have a minimum of 5 years experience in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, oil & gas or similar industries. Extensive experience working on large scale capital projects is essential as is a deep knowledge of execution methodologies and their impact on EPC estimates. Strong communication and problem solving skills are a prerequisite.
